First Eight Sports Confirmed for 2025 World Abilitysport Games

World Abilitysport is one of the world’s leading organisations for the development of Para sports. Alongside a membership of more than 80 countries around the world, World Abilitysport is passionate about offering as many competition opportunities as possible for athletes with physical impairments.

The 2025 World Abilitysport Games due to be held from 11-21 September 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia have announced the first eight confirmed sports for the programme.

Hosted in the Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium, Para athletics is also among the approved sports on the programme.

Making a return to the World Games programme is Para Taekwondo with a G2 status competition hosting Para Kyorugi for the first time since 2017

While the discipline of Para Poomsae will make its Games debut.

World Taekwondo President, Dr. Chungwon Choue said,
“The World Abilitysport Games is a multisport event offering a stage for athletes to gain valuable multisport event experience, develop and hone their skills and to inspire future generations to pursue their passion for sport.”

“World Taekwondo is very excited that Para Taekwondo is back on the program of the World Abilitysport Games and that Para Poomsae will make its first appearance on the Games, offering more high level competition opportunity to our athletes in both Para Kyorugi and Para Poomsae.”

World Abilitysport President, Rudi Van den Abbeele said,
“We are excited to be offering such a dynamic and extensive sports programme at this year’s Games, welcoming back sports such as Para Taekwondo and expanding our reach to new sports in CP football and sitting volleyball.”

The sports that remain under discussion are boccia, chess, Para archery, Para badminton, Para swimming, Para table tennis, snooker and wheelchair basketball. The full sports programme will be confirmed ahead of the opening of entry by number in early March 2025.
